Differing Temperatures / Adjusting TemperaturesUpdated a month ago

If you notice that your GMG grill has uneven temperatures or that the internal temperature differs from the set temperature, there are adjustments you can make to help address these inconsistencies.

Our first recommendation is to update the grill to its latest available firmware setting. Updating the grill can play a big part helping temperature control.

While all BBQs have hotspots, GMG gives you some control over your heat distribution through the adjustable heat shield technology. Majority of barbeques / grills tend to have hot spots. Don’t worry, we’ve made it very easy to correct this even mid-cook. The heat distribution can be corrected by making small adjustments to your heat shield placement with the external adjustment handle.

GENERAL RULE OF THUMB: If your grill seems to run hotter on the right side, slightly adjust your heat shield to the right and vice versa. Generally, a centimeter adjustment can create a 5-10°c difference. Refer to the user manual for the correct positioning of your heat shield. Keep in mind this is a starting position, environmental factors like ground levelness, attitude, humidity, etc play a role in the way heat is distributed through your grill. Fortunately, the adjustable technology allows you to customize your heat distribution to what works best for you.

PRO TIP: Once you find the best heat shield placement for your grill, we encourage you to measure the distance from the shield to the left wall of the grill. This way you can the same positioning every time the grill is relocated or parts are removed for cleaning.
