Bradley is displaying an “E1” Error MessageUpdated 19 days ago

Models BTDS76CE and BTDS108CE

An “E1” message on Bradley Digital smokers BTDS76P and BTDS108P is letting you know that smoker generator is not receiving the signal from the temperature sensor from the cabinet. It shuts down and displays beeping E1 code.

There are only 4 components that will cause an E1 error:

a) Faulty temperature sensor,

b) Sensor cable,

c) Sensor plug connector located on the back side of the cabinet

d) Sensor plug connector located on the back side of the generator

Your smoker may have been stowed away for longer period of time or has been opened to the elements of weather and the connections of the sensor cable may have got corroded.

Sensor cable is a thin black signal link cable connected between the generator and the cabinet.

1. Re-plug it a couple of times or even unplug and reverse it, it will usually help. Then check the connection; by wiggling one side of the connection and then the other. If the “E1” message temporally goes away while you were wiggling one side, you need a new sensor plug. (This is the female plug that the sensor cable plugs into)

2. Remove the cable, observe it’s plug ends. If it has any corroding signs, use scrubbing pad to clean them from corrosion, then use rubbing alcohol or acetone to clean the ends.

3. At the same time check the sensor plug connector on the cabinet or on the generator. Again, if it has any corroding signs, use scrubbing pad or needle to clean it from corrosion, then use q-tip and rubbing alcohol or acetone to clean the inner contacts.

4. If the above mentioned does not correct the problem, you will have to open the generator and check the respective connections. Also, remove the back cover of the cabinet and check the connections.

5. If E1 error persists, then the plugs or sensor cable need to be replaced. In rear cases the temperature sensor needs to be replaced.
