Bradley is displaying an “E” Error MessageUpdated 16 days ago

An “E” message on Bradley digital smokers BTDS76CE and BTDS108CE is letting you know that there is something wrong with the bisquette advancing system.

When this error occurs:

1. Check the bisquette burner slide guide for any obstructions; such as a build up of debris in the tracks that will interfere with the forward movement of the bisquette. Clean it with brush or compressed air, if necessary. Never use any grease or oils for lubrication!

2. Remove all the bisquettes from the feeder tube and then remove the feeder tube as well.

While looking inside of the feeder tube seat from top of the generator, press the bisquette advance button.

Observe the movement of the bisquette pusher. Pusher plate should move without any hesitation from right to left and to right again and stop. This is called a home position.

3. When the bisquette pusher moves all the way to the left, it needs to clear the bisquette drop zone completely. The front edge of the bisquette pusher should not be visible. If you see that bisquette pusher is not clearing the drop-down zone, you need to open your generator and investigate the advancing linkage mechanism and possibly change the bisquette pusher.

4. If the bisquette pusher moves and stops somewhere in between or just makes a “clicking” sound, then the motor needs to be replaced.

5. Bisquette pusher must always stop on far right, which is the home position. If it moves past the home position and starts to retract, then alarm occurs. The “home position” switch is faulty and needs to be adjusted or replaced.

6. If your smoker sixteen-digit serial number (white rectangular sticker located at the back of the generator or on the cabinet) starts with 1501, then your generator uses IR switch (infra red switch with invisible light beam). Older models with serial number up to 1412 have just a mechanical microswitch.

If you have an infrared switch you need to know the following: This infrared switch works as invisible light beam gets interrupted. When bisquette pusher linkage arm moves forward, toward the home position, it cuts the invisible IR beam and stops the mechanism. If it does not, then there is something wrong with that switch. It could be possible that there’s a lot of moisture accumulated in the generator which starts affecting the electronics and also “blinds” the IR switch.
